sorry folks,
until further notice skydive Dubuque (Oct 23 - 25) is officially on hold.. many issues.. but mostly planes and

if people still want to jump a turbine aircraft, perhaps we could organize a field trip to SDC, CSC or Vinton.. looking for input.

I vote for Vinton..

I have the ability to bring the PAC here, been talking with Doug after Tanya said absolutely no go. It is pretty secure that this will happen so tell your friends. No registration as always and either $23 or $22 jumps. and we will start Fri afternoon.

Anyone GAME!

We might be doing a pumpkin drop, a swoop and chug and I really want to get the 4 way scrambles to go this time, with not having a bunch of tandems we should be able to. If we get the 7 Hills group (Robby & Chris that's your job) we can do some CRW stuff as well. Sound good.

I'm still push for that heated airspace.. but I'm a super wuss like that..

pumpkin drop?.. sounds appealing.. can we count a pumpkin drop from a cessna as "spotting" for the students A license requirement?  ... we can go through the ground prep and everything.. it might be a great fun exercise even for the newer jumpers...

Rick and Johnboy are in charge of figuring out an average glide ratio for a pumpkin..

I'm thinking that the average glide ratio for what I'm assuming would be a large, canopy-less pumpkin is pretty damn close to zero.

I volunteer to spot it, hope I don't hit the hanger...   Shocked

There are an insane amount of variables needed for anything even ballpark figure.

Weight of pumpkin
diameter of pumpkin
Frictional resistance of air on pumpkin
elevation dropped from
foward speed of plane when dropped
how flat the land is, if it falls away or elevates higher
Any wind on the day
Not to mention no pumpkin is perfect sphere so it isn't going to fly straight worth a damn, and no two pumpkins will fall the same

Just don't let me spot it or one of two things will happen.  Someones golf game is going to be ruined or there will be a pileup on i-80.  Grin

I will have packer daves wingsuit over the weekend and will be able to take qualified jumpers up for a first flight.  If any one is still interested give me a call or find me at the dz.
