QCSC, Inc Jump Information

Quad City Skydiving Center, Inc. is a safety oriented drop zone geared towards teaching beginners the exhilarating sport of SKYDIVING! We will instruct you all the way through being a licensed skydiver. This is done with a static line or AFF program that is set forth by the United States Parachute Association . During a static line jump the parachute is automatically deployed and you will enjoy 4 to 5 minutes of bird's eye view under canopy from 3,500 feet, in which you will be guided via a one way radio. During your first AFF jump two appropriately rated instructors will assist you through your freefall and then you will enjoy 4 to 5 minutes of bird's eye view under canopy from around 4,500 feet ,in which you will be guided via a one way radio. If you are more interested in doing a once in a lifetime jump, we will also be offering tandem jumps. On a tandem jump you will be connected to an appropriately rated tandem instructor. You will enjoy a 30 second freefall, followed by your 4 to 5 minutes of bird's eye view under canopy, and your feet back to the ground.

What you need to bring for your skydive:
First and foremost, PATIENCE! Wear what ever clothes are appropriate for the weather and please have some tennis/jogging shoes. We do have drinks and snacks for sale or feel free to bring your own. Many days we do fire up the grill or get food from town (pizza, fast food, etc.). We have some lawn chairs and picnic tables or you can bring your own.

Static Line Program:
A static line student will attend a classroom course, taught by a USPA rated instructor. This class will take approximately 3-4 hrs, beginning at 8:00a.m. on a Saturday or Sunday. After the classroom is finished you will take a lunch break, then we will resume with some ground training to fully prepare you for your first skydive. The first group of students will be ready to jump around 1:00p.m. Plan on a full day at the airport.

Tandem Jumps:
A tandem student will attend a course and jump with a properly rated tandem instructor. The course takes approximately 1/2 hr., with the total time being about 1 1/2 hours and can be done at anytime. Your tandem instructor will teach and prepare you with the basics needed to make your first tandem skydive. Please call and make sure of availability for the time you wish to make your tandem skydive.

AFF Program:
The AFF program was instituted in 1982 as an "accelerated" learning process as compared to the traditional static line progression. The AFF program will give you a true taste of modern sport skydiving. The ground training is a bit more extensive than S/L (~4-6 hours) because the student will be doing a 30-60 second freefall (that's right!) on his/her very first skydive. The student will exit the aircraft at 10,000-13,500 feet along with two AFF Instructors who will assist the student during freefall. The instructors maintain grips on the student from the moment they leave the aircraft until opening, assisting the student as necessary to fall stable, perform practice ripcord pulls, monitor altitude, etc. The student then pulls his/her own ripcord at about 4500 ft. The AFF program is a 7 level program. Levels 1, 2, & 3 require two freefall instructors to accompany the student. These dives concentrate on teaching basic safety skills such as altitude awareness, body position, stability during freefall and during the pull sequence, and most importantly- successful canopy deployment. On level 3, the instructors will release the student in freefall for the first time, to fly completely on their own. Levels 4, 5, 6, & 7 require only one freefall instructor (less $$) and teach the student air skills such as turns, forward movement and docking on other people, front flips, back flips, tracking, exits from the airplane, etc. Each AFF level is designed to take one jump, and requires about 45 minutes of training. After successfully performing the objectives of each level, the student moves on to the next level. After graduating Level 7, the student enters a more free format stage called "Level 8 or coached jumps" where they practice and hone their skills by themselves and in small groups until they obtain 25 freefall skydives and qualify for their USPA A license.
