You will have to be a registered member and logged on to view the Bulletin Board Thread.. but it's the best place to stay current.

QCSC PAC weekend.. So here’s the skinny on the weekend..
Team Derham Rocks!.. Once again Chris and Missy Derham demonstrated the value of a good, solid, old fashioned work your ass off ethic.Invaluable!!! Missy (our PAC weekend HBIC)pretty much single handedly kept the plane moving and cycling the tandem students thru waivers, introductions and load coordinations. The Chris & Robby Root (resident local hero… saved a guys life last thrusday.. ask him about it…) once again partnered up as 2 of the 3 Putter Productions Inc team (of course missing the Putter) and sometimes flew triple back to backs to shoot something like a BaBillion tandem videos.. Matt Yount came in from DesMoines and teamed with Dennis, Keith and Bjarna and did afore mentioned BaBillion tandems.. Tanya Tjarks came down from Skydive Dubuque www.skydivedubuque.com to help with AFF’s and general operations.
Sunday we made an ash dive for our the family of our old friend and one of our past key staff members Duane Deen, that passed due to heart issues a year ago or so..
Anders made his 500th jump Sunday…
What else..?.. Oh yeah, old friend Matt Kunkle came down after a couple years off and made a couple jumps with us..
Dan and Eric made a trek from Crete (Nebraska) www.skydivecrete.com. Lori and a couple other members from LSPC www.skydivelspc.com made the trip to support us and jump the PAC.. and out of town member Brian Tuffin brought a couple jumpers in from DesMoines Area Skydivers www.couchfreaks.com Thanks for the support guys.
Tom handled money and office operations, Andi, Tom and Renegade packed.. other people did lots of stuff too.. (sorry if I forgot ya.)
Long story short there was just a lot of activity, and all in all it was a good weekend..
It's offical the PAC is coming back to QCSC August 22 weekend. So turn off the TV, close your computer, pack your bags, grab your gear and head to Geneseo.. Tell all your friends this is the weekend to
We don't know what all the details are yet but for now we can assume that people can crash in the hanger that weekend or find a place to pitch a tent.. It also sounds like our friends from LSPC may be coming to pay us a visit that weekend, so there should be plenty of fun jumping to be had too.
Also remember (in case you didn't know) that we will be close the weekend of August 15th to go visit our friends at the Mid-America Parachute Club in Taylorville, Il. they are a great group of guys and we are bringing the 182 down for some two plane shots and help throw some tandems out the door..
I'll do my best to keep ya posted as details develope
ok, ok, ok.. I know.. I've been a slacker keeping the frontpage current since the season got going.. so here's what's been going on.. Weather his spring and summer has really sucked.. we've had a lot of very slow days, but despite that, our skydiving season is in full mode now..
We've been really cranking out the tandems.. Between Dennis, Keith, and Bjarna we are very regularly doing just short of 2 dozen tandems a weekend.. with Rob Root and Chris Derham shooting the majority of the tandem videos and stills... putter is actually waking up and coming to the dz on a moderately regular basis.. but he's also pitching in and producing the tandem videos for us and usually getting them done and shipped out within a couple days, so that's cool...one less thing for Dennis to worry about.
On a positive business note, all the tandems have really helped pay the bills to make up for the bad weather days ..It's also helped give good justification for the DZ to be open multiple days thru the week.. so don't always assume that we are just open weekends and Tuesdays anymore.. check the calendar.
We have a few AFF students that are starting to hit it pretty hard and getting thru some of the early nervous jumps.. We've done a few demo's but honestly gotten weathered out on more than we've done, but that's the nature of the sport..
Last but not least, most of this is possible with the help of our pilots.. Mike has been a rockstar flying machine, Ben has been filling in flying the 205 when needed and Matt has been coming out and helping during the week too.. as always I have to give props (no pun intended) to our regulars.. Robby, Bjrarne, and Bob Johnson for keeping the planes flying too.. and Dennis for... well trying to do everything all the time so we can jump..
thanks everyone..
WOW!.. all that and the summer is just getting started!!! not bad for a small Cessna DZ..
Another Successful Safety Day!!! thanks to all that showed up and contributed.. a special thanks Brian and Dennis for the seminars and leadership.
Daylight Savings Time is here and warm weather is close.. so the DZ is open Tuesdays, and most weekends.. what happens when it's too windy to jump?.. what could possibly go wrong?.. (March 21st weekend pictures here)
If anyone has safety day pics they want me to post please let me know and I'll throw them in a gallery for everyone to see..
The Florida Trip was Fantastic.. Some photos available at DropzonePhotos.com. Joe P, Brian, RobRoot, Anders, as well as Dave Schwartz of Skydiveradio.com/ all made their first Beech Jump.. congratsulations! Thanks to Skydive Sebastian, Dave, Carrie Schwartz and our own Catrina for being such good Florida Hosts..
The Year Kick off / Pilots Party is currently scheduled for Feb 7th at the Steeplegate Best Western Inn in Davenport iowa
Lastly we have started having very informal winter QCSC organizational meetings on tuesdays.. if you are intrested in attending call me or Dennis.. or just check the member section of the Bulletin Board for details.
ALSO: REMEMBER TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE BULLETIN BOARD FOR GENERAL GOINGS ON...
Hey Dennis Well last Thursday was the start of year two here at USAFA. Thebest part of this school year is that I have my AF Jump Wings and I love it. I got my wings pinned on a week ago and yes I even got blood wings (My wings were punched into my chest. It didn't hurt till the next day). Overall I found the entire jump program here to be...wellfun... but overkill. With three days of ground school from 6 - 6 everyone of those days I not only was bored out of mind at times but found myself wanting to tell my instructor...ok can we just jump now. Lucky for me I got selected to jump on the first plane load on the first jump day. I was the last one out of the plane and got to laugh at all the kids getting out in front of me trying to swim back into the plane and do the running man while falling. It as a great jump and felt awesome to jump out of and airplane again (isn't it sad that a person who wants to fly airplanes also loves to jump out of them.) After two days of jumping I got my wings. I received two jumps day one and then three in a row on the next day which made me happy...drop your rig grab another and stand in line. Overall I received Q1 on all 5 of myjumps with no retraining, and an overall perfect on my grade card. The only downside of the entire summer came last Saturday when we signed up for Wings of Green. I fit every requirement but one...you had to have a 2.6 min GPA...well...with my luck I have a 2.59... (No joke). In the end because of .01 I am not on wings of green which my instructor and jumpmaster said I would had made with no problem. SOOOOO..... all this means is I do not get to spend every weekend jumping out of airplanes here at USAFA and will just have to receive all my thrills and fun with the great people at QC Skydiving. In conclusion as the rain falls for the 7 straight day I want to again thank you for the 10 best times of my life you allowed me to have at ho> me. I owe you for every Q1 jump I did here at USAFA and to show you my thanks within the next week or two you should be receiving my original jump wings. AF tradition states that you jump with your wings on your last jump... then wear them for every minute of 24 hours after that jump and then have them punched into your chest. After all of this they are not to be worn again and giving to someone to keep. So my clear cut decision was you and all of the people at QC Skydiving. Again I want to thank you and cannot wait to jump with everyone again when I am home. C3C Eric Darwin USAFA Class of 2010 CS-18 Nightriders USAF Academy
